Compress a PDF locally using lossless structural rewriting or a smaller, image-based copy. The result shows the actual size change.
- Choose your source files.
- Choose lossless or image compression.
- Run the tool, review the result, and download your copy.
A practical example
Try lossless rewriting first when preparing a report for email. If the file remains too large, consider image compression and inspect the small text. Keep the vector source for drawing measurements.
Good to know

Keep your original. Review the downloaded result before issuing, printing, or replacing a project file.
About Compress PDF
Can I compress a PDF without losing quality?
Lossless mode rewrites the PDF structure without intentionally rasterizing its pages. It may reduce overhead, but an already optimized PDF can stay the same size or grow. The result reports actual input and output sizes.
Can I compress a PDF to an exact size such as 1 MB?
There is no guaranteed target size. Image mode lets you lower DPI and JPEG quality, but it removes selectable text, vector detail, links, and interactive fields. Compare the output size and readability before using it.
Is this tool free, and do files get uploaded?
Yes. This tool runs locally in your browser without an account. PolyPDF does not receive your input files. Downloads are saved only when you choose to save them.
What files and limits does this tool support?
Choose 1 PDF files. The toolkit supports up to 30 MB per file, 80 MB total input, and 500 PDF pages. Image rendering is limited to 100 pages per operation and 16 megapixels per page. Password-protected files are unsupported; editing signed files is blocked.
Can an AI assistant use this tool?
Yes. The downloadable local MCP server exposes the same operation and validation rules. Compatible browser agents can use the selected files through WebMCP when their browser supports it. Read the setup and privacy details.
