How the calculation works
- Add the net room areas after subtracting exclusions.
- Multiply by 1 plus the waste percentage divided by 100.
- Divide by pack coverage and round up to whole packs.
- Multiply whole packs by coverage and optional pack price.
Worked example
100 sq ft with 10% waste requires 110 sq ft. At 20 sq ft per pack, order 6 packs: 120 sq ft purchased, with 10 sq ft beyond the waste-adjusted requirement. At $45 per pack, material cost is $270 before tax, delivery, and labor.
Choose the allowance for the actual installation
The default 10% is an editable example. Product instructions, laying pattern, room shape, defects, and spare material requirements can change the allowance. This tool does not plan seams or optimize cuts.
